Crucial Items to Remember for Your Wedding Day Detail Photos

When it comes to flat lay photos, the more the merrier. I’ve talked before on my Instagram about details and why they’re important, but in case you missed that post I’ll dive in here too.

All the late nights and Saturday mornings (and afternoons) spent planning the wedding, agonizing over every styling choice for your wedding day–these will come to an end. However, if done well you’ll be able to see the entire vision for the wedding in one photo when it’s all said and done. Having notes of your personality, color selections, and invitation style will all culminate in one memory. Here’s a helpful list of items to gather for your detail shots:

  • Rings; I cannot stress this enough, but you need ALL three rings.
  • Invitation Suite, envelope included, please.
  • Florals– Boutonnieres, Bouquet and loose florals. The addition of live flowers to any flat lay really elevates the look.
  • Perfume
  • Jewelry
  • Something Blue
  • a special hanger, if you have one.
  • Hair pieces
  • Veil
  • Jewelry boxes
  • Watch
  • Cuff links
  • Cologne
  • Bow tie/Tie
  • Shoes, his and hers.
  • Vow books, if you have them.
  • Pocket Squares
  • Champagne, this one is always fun with the gals!
  • Letters to your (almost) spouse.
  • Vow Books
  • Ring box
  • Any sentimental items you may have.Of course, you can add almost anything you like to your details. They are completely unique to y’all.

“I’ll put it here, so that I’ll know exactly where it is.” ~Everyone, everywhere, who, in fact, lost the item.

“Malia, this seems like a lot of things to remember the morning of my wedding.”
You’re positively correct. There a plenty of things to be thinking about the morning of your wedding, and this shouldn’t be one of them. Hotel rooms, getting ready suites, or your parent’s house (a super sweet alternative) will ALL turn into one large mess when you have your entourage getting ready with you. Everyone’s everything will be everywhere! This is why I recommend my couples place their wedding details together in one box, so that when I arrive to begin shooting everything is in one place ready to go! I love this one from target! Easy wedding detail photos in… 3, 2, 1!
